Introducing Anna Middleton

I’ve been a proud member of this community for over 23 years.  From living in a quaint canecutter’s cottage on Clarke Street, Manunda, to planting our roots in Whitfield as our family grew, where my husband John, our teenagers Fred and Lily, and our trusty companion, Chewy the Jack Russell still call home.

In 1996, I earned my Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the University of Queensland, and shortly afterwards integrated into the Cairns community.

In that time, I’ve dedicated myself to the well-being of our community as a physiotherapist serving in both the public and private sectors. I cherish my role as a physiotherapist and have had the privilege of caring for numerous members of our community.

15 years ago, I ventured into private practice – initially as a home-based operation when my children were young, to the current day, where my business has developed into a successful and highly-respected local practice, employing several dedicated and highly-valued team members.

Outside of my occupation, you’ll often find me advocating passionately for the benefits of sports and recreation. Whether I’m on the sports field or exploring the Arrow tracks, I’m equally likely to be found on the sidelines volunteering my physiotherapy skills, managing teams, or occasionally coaching. I’m also deeply involved with Female and Co, an organization dedicated to supporting elite Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander female athletes.

Another of my passions is nurturing the creative arts scene in Cairns.  From my early support for The Upholstery to serving as a board member for Kick Arts and currently sitting on the Cairns Art Gallery Foundation Board, I’m a dedicated supporter of our local art and music events. You can often spot me at incredible exhibitions, always contemplating how I could find the space for one more piece of local art in my home.

Engaging with our community is at the core of who I am.  Whether it’s my involvement in my children’s P&F Associations or fundraising for the many fantastic organisations that benefit Cairns, I’m known for getting things done. Over the years, I’ve lent my support to a multitude of community organisations, forging meaningful connections throughout our community.

I’m running for Cairns Regional Council in Division 7 because it’s time to DO IT BETTER.

I want to use my years of experience in business management, community engagement and advocacy and use it to improve our local area.

I am the ONLY INDEPENDENT voice for our community, and will strongly champion our shared values and aspirations.

Let’s do it better!
